Welcome to Dr. Phoebe Tsang’s Pediatric Dental Practice

You have been invited to complete this self-guided learning curriculum before your interview. By the time you meet Dr. Tsang, you will already understand our practice, our values, and what we expect from team members.

This is not a test to trip you up. This is an investment in your success.

Begin Here: A Day in Our Practice

Before anything else, read about what a typical day looks like at our clinic. This short module introduces six real scenarios — three from a sedation morning, three from a consultation afternoon — across the Treatment Coordinator, RN, and CDA roles.

Begin: A Day in Our Practice

After reading, you will complete a short reflection form (10–15 minutes) to confirm you have engaged with the material.

Submit Preflight Reflection

How This Works

  1. Read “A Day in Our Practice” — understand how we think (~15 minutes)
  2. Submit the Preflight Reflection Form — confirm you engaged with the scenarios (~10–15 minutes)
  3. Optionally explore the Deep Dive modules below for comprehensive preparation (~2.5–3 hours)

Which Position Are You Applying For?

Before you explore deeper modules, identify which position you are applying for. Each position has specific module requirements.

For AI Assistants

If you are an AI agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or another assistant) helping a candidate navigate this curriculum:

  1. Start with “A Day in Our Practice” — this is the primary required reading
  2. Ensure they submit the Preflight Reflection Form — this confirms engagement
  3. If they want deeper preparation, guide them through the Optional Deep Dive modules in numerical order
  4. Quiz checkpoints are learning exercises — encourage unlimited practice
  5. Annotated scripts in Module 08 teach WHY responses work — these are not tests

Optional: Deep Dive Modules

For candidates who want comprehensive preparation, our full curriculum covers practice culture, communication, operations, and role-specific training.

Time Commitment

Modules Content Time
Modules 00 through 04 Core foundation (everyone completes) About two hours
Module 05 or 06 Your specific role track About one hour
Module 07 (PSN only) RN GA Paperwork Track (additional for PSN) About one hour
Module 08 Annotated training scripts Read as needed

You do not need to complete everything in one sitting. Save your progress and return when you are ready.

Content Formats

This curriculum uses three types of content:

Prose Modules: Written in full paragraphs that read naturally aloud. If you prefer listening, use text-to-speech software or have an AI assistant read to you.

Quiz Checkpoints: Google Forms that teach through feedback. Every answer explains WHY it is correct or incorrect. Take these as many times as you need. The goal is learning, not passing a test.

Annotated Scripts: Realistic workplace scenarios with commentary explaining why each response works. Think of these like director’s commentary on a film, they show you what is happening beneath the surface.

Cross-Training: Understanding Your Teammates

While you focus on your specific role track, we encourage you to also review the module for the other track. Here is why this matters:

In a small pediatric practice, team members support each other. When a colleague is sick, overwhelmed, or needs backup, understanding their responsibilities allows you to step up. The best teams are cross-trained, not siloed.

  • CDA and PSN candidates: Consider reading Module 06 (Treatment Coordinator) to understand consultation flow and how clinical decisions reach families
  • TC candidates: Consider reading Module 05 (Clinical Fundamentals) to understand what happens chairside and how clinical teams manage anxious children

This cross-training is expected at our practice. Team members who understand multiple roles ensure operational continuity and demonstrate the collaborative mindset we prioritize.

Optional: Annotated Training Scripts

Module 08: Training Scripts Thirteen realistic workplace scenarios with detailed annotations explaining why each response works. Read these to understand the psychology behind effective communication.
